Before you sit
Frequently Asked
Everything first-timers ask before their appointment at Dead Doll Tattoos in Richlands, Brisbane — answered plainly.
How do I book a tattoo?
Pick a date on the booking calendar, choose an open two-hour slot, and send your details, design idea and any reference photos. You will receive a confirmation email with your appointment details and the deposit instructions. You can also call 0484 392 444 to book by phone or walk in to Stallion Ink.
How far in advance should I book?
Only three weekday appointments are taken per day, so popular slots fill first. A week or two ahead is comfortable. If you need something locked in quickly, call the studio directly and ask about priority booking.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A $50 deposit secures a weekday appointment and $100 secures a weekend appointment. Deposits are non-refundable and come off the final price of your tattoo. Payment is made by PayID and the details are in your confirmation email.
What is the minimum age to get tattooed?
You must be 18 or older. Bring valid photo identification to your appointment — no ID, no tattoo, no exceptions.
Does it hurt?
Some, and it depends entirely on placement. Outer arms, thighs, calves and shoulders are the easiest places to start. Ribs, sternum, spine, feet, hands and the back of the head are far sharper. You will be told honestly what your chosen placement is like before you sit.
What should I do before my appointment?
Eat a proper meal beforehand, drink water, avoid alcohol the night before, and wear clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Do not turn up sunburnt or on a heavy hangover — both make the skin far harder to work with.
How do I look after a new tattoo?
Keep the covering on as instructed, then wash gently with clean hands and unscented soap, pat dry and apply a thin layer of the recommended balm. No swimming, no baths, no gym sweat and no direct sun until fully healed. Never pick or scratch the peeling skin. Full written aftercare is given to you on the day.
Can you cover an old or badly done tattoo?
Sometimes. Cover-ups depend on how dark and how large the existing work is. Send a clear, well-lit photo of the tattoo with your booking request and you will get an honest answer about whether it can be covered, reworked, or whether laser fading is needed first.
Can you tattoo my own design?
Yes — custom work is most of what happens here. Send your idea, references and desired placement, and the design will be drawn for you before your appointment. You can also try the free AI flash generator on the site to visualise a concept first.
Are you licensed and hygienic?
Yes. Dead Doll is a licensed tattoo practitioner and Infection Control certified, working from a registered studio, Stallion Ink, under the mentorship of Neil Kaos. Single-use needles, sterile setups and full barrier protection every session.
